One-Day Workshop on Smart Assessments with OBE Approach - KUFOS

A One-Day Workshop on "Smart Assessments with OBE Approach", organized by the Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean Studies (KUFOS), Panangad, in collaboration with ipsr solutions limited, was successfully conducted on March 11, 2025, at the KUFOS campus. The program aimed to provide in-depth insights into the integration of smart assessments within the framework of Outcome-Based Education (OBE). The session was specifically designed for Deans and Heads of Departments from KUFOS, ensuring an enriching and interactive learning experience.

Inauguration & Welcome Address

The workshop commenced with a warm welcome address by Dr. K P Subhash Chandran, Controller of Examinations, KUFOS, who emphasized the importance of smart assessments and OBE methodologies in academic excellence.

Sessions & Resource Persons

The academic session was led by Dr. Mendus Jacob, M.D. & CEO of ipsr solutions limited, who delivered an outcome-driven and practical approach to implementing smart assessments with the OBE methodology. He provided valuable insights on effectively integrating technology-driven assessments to enhance learning outcomes. Additionally, Mr. Jaimon Kuriakose, Sr. Manager - Training & Corporate Services, ipsr solutions limited, actively engaged with participants, addressing queries and providing hands-on support during the session.

Participants & Engagement

The workshop was attended by Deans and Heads of Departments from KUFOS, who actively participated in discussions and sought clarifications on implementing smart assessments in their respective disciplines. The interactive nature of the session allowed participants to gain a clear understanding of leveraging assessment tools effectively within the OBE framework.

Context & Continuation of OBE Mentoring Support

This workshop was part of an ongoing OBE Mentoring Support initiative, following two key events:

Demystifying Outcome-Based Education (October 21, 2024)
Implementation of deQ OBE (February 12, 2025)

The session marked the next step in this journey by focusing on integrating QnSmart i for smart assessments, further strengthening the OBE implementation process at KUFOS.
